Pastor Russ Nanney and Rev. Suzanna Helms lead a discussion group using the book “Jesus & the Disinherited” by Howard Thurman. In this classic theological treatise, the acclaimed theologian and religious leader Howard Thurman (1900-1981) demonstrates how the gospel may be read as a manual of resistance for the poor and disenfranchised. Jesus is a partner in the pain of the oppressed and the example of His life offers a solution to ending the descent into moral nihilism. Hatred does not empower–it decays. Only through self-love and love of one another can God’s justice prevail.

Breathe. See. Nourish. Energize. A Pathway to Healing – Cindy Steiner is leading; participants will need a journal or notebook.
Drawing on scripture as well as holistic health practices, this practical guide blends the growing interest in spirituality and health with the examples set by Jesus, who encouraged his followers to embrace a life marked by physical healing, emotional wholeness, and spiritual abundance ― moving people from physical pain to enlightenment and spiritual revelation.  The book offers techniques to help readers apply four key principles in their day-to-day lives.

Bible Discussion Group – Take on the challenge of reading through the Bible in 2020. Reading guides with a weekly reading schedule will be available in the Gathering Space. Each Wednesday evening we will have an informal discussion about the passages that were read in the past week. We’ll also use additional tools, videos, and study guides to help us understand and apply what we’re reading. The format will be casual, sharing and questions anticipated, and new folks can join in any time. Claire Young will facilitate this group.
